Faces of Penn Foster

Independence, subsistence, and self-empowerment—these and others, are qualities I learned from Penn Foster, Inc. I will explain how Penn Foster helped me see and meet some of my potentials.

I finished my local secondary school education (equivalent to the U.S. High School Diploma Program) in 2001 and I had further educational and personal goals, but I had no real sense of purpose and direction of how to reach these. It was in this state of mind in the spring of 2003 I found a newspaper clipping that advertised distance learning. After careful consideration, I made contact with Student Services. Thus began my higher education experience through distance learning with Penn Foster, Inc.

Two years later, after I earned my High School diploma, I enrolled in the Associate in Specialized Business, Marketing degree program. Because of my improper time management skills, I spent over the required time allotment for a semester. I felt dejected but bounced back after some consultation with Student Services.

I started anew and transferred some of my credits to the Associate in Specialized Technology, PC Maintenance Technology degree program. Now I am in the third semester and going strong. I am now better at what I do in my chosen career. I can construct readable and better comprehensive business and technical documents. I solve people’s different PC technology glitches and more – thanks to the training materials from Penn Foster.

Looking back, I feel confident I made the right decision. I now pay better attention to details. I feel empowered to help my family, peers, colleagues and can better empower others. I look to the future with confidence to meet any challenges head-on. Thank you Penn Foster!”
